A vobiscon Initiative: Car-sharing Based on Electric Mobility

03-07-2011 03:09 PM CET | Tourism, Cars, Traffic

Press release from: vobiscon

Munich, March 2011: How to establish fully environmental friendly car-sharing based on electric automobiles. Volker Josel – owner of vobiscon, a consultancy based in Munich – discussed this topic several times in 2010. Many people were open and showed interest in discussing it.

cambio Mobilitätsservice GmbH & Co KG, Bremen did not limit themselves to discussions. Since beginning of March 2011 they also offer electric automobiles in their car-sharing program. These electric cars are regular series-production cars and - initiated by vobiscon – the charging infrastructure of ParkPod GmbH, Karlsruhe is used.

Based on their outstanding experience in car-sharing cambio could exactly define the requirements of all system components. This concerned in particular the requirement specifications of the charging infrastructure and of the electric cars.

ParkPod supplied the entire charging infrastructure, comprising the charging stations and the reservation system. The ParkPod clearing system had been fully adapted to the cambio platform and communicates with it.

Result: Starting from March 4th, 2011 electric automobiles are offered in addition to conventional cars at two car-sharing stations.

“Electric mobility comes out of its niche. This project is an example for a realistic business model which already now can be established,” Volker Josel says. “This encourages us to establish more concepts for clean mobility with innovative companies”
