Built on the business of Ben and Marquita Romero, Scrubs Medical Janitorial was born out of innovation and necessity in Fort Collins, Colo. Their cleaning story of rags to riches and now to franchises, is a living example of the American dream.

In 1998 the Romeros, like many hard working Americans today, were in a difficult financial situation and were struggling to make ends meet. Marquita was selling plasma and Ben was working two jobs to provide for the family. As medical bills for their young daughter piled up, their financial situation became bleak.

It was during one of the many medical visits for their daughter that the Romeros saw an opportunity and a way to get ahead while at the same time help others.

“Sitting in the waiting rooms, I saw things that I knew the physician did not see,” said Marquita Romero. “There was often dirt and dust in cracks and crevices, and I knew those conditions were not helping my daughter get better.”

They saw a need for medical offices to be cleaner and safer. When Ben heard of an opportunity to clean a medical suite, the Romeros embraced this chance to change their financial futures and proved that hard work does pay off. They took this job and turned it into a full-fledged medical janitorial business, Bio-Medical Janitorial.

After building Bio-Medical Janitorial from a one client, two-employee startup to a wildly successful business, the Romeros sought to share their American dream with others through franchising their proprietary cleaning processes.

“We are thrilled to be making almost a quarter of a million dollars a year, which is far more than we ever dreamed possible. We now consider it our duty to provide the opportunity for others who simply need a ‘break’ to provide for their families,” said Marquita Romero.
