02-21-2011 09:45 AM CET | Logistics & Transport

Press release from: Atlanta BeltLine

The Atlanta BeltLine Partnership is proud to announce the Atlanta BeltLine Running Series. The 2011 series will consist of three running/walking events located at three separate locations on the Atlanta BeltLine trail throughout the city, with proceeds from the races supporting the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership's continued efforts to raise awareness for the Atlanta BeltLine.

"One of the most exciting features of the Atlanta BeltLine is the connectivity it creates via new parks and trails inside the city," said Atlanta BeltLine Partnership Executive Director Valarie Wilson. "This running series is one of the many ways the Atlanta BeltLine Partnership brings communities together around the Atlanta BeltLine. We are thrilled to promote the healthy lifestyle options inherent in this project."

The Running Series will kick off with the Atlanta BeltLine Northside 5K on Saturday, April 30, 2011 starting at 8 a.m. This 5K is a run/walk on the Atlanta BeltLine Northside Trail through Tanyard Creek and Howard Parks and along streets in the beautiful Collier Hills, Collier Hills North, and Ardmore Park neighborhoods.

“Atlanta, and the surrounding area, is a vibrant community with an active group of runners where you are likely to see on any given day runners traversing the city, either by themselves or as a part of a running club," said Atlanta BeltLine Running Series Director Dan Popovic. "It's exciting that the Atlanta BeltLine is launching Atlanta's first running series while also showcasing a great city-wide initiative that promises to bring with it strong economic growth”
