Grand 69th Annual Day Celebrations of BBVP - Birla Balika Vidya Peeth Pilani Rajasthan

For the last 50 plus years, the one constant in the Republic Day Parade has been the NCC girls’ band from Birla Balika Vidyapeeth Pilani and they are indeed part of what has now become a tradition says band leader Sergeant Pooja Natarajan.

Birla Balika Vidya Peeth - BBVP, Pilani Rajasthan established in July 1941 working on modern progressive lines is an English medium Residential Public School for girls. Apart from providing the facilities of modern education, the school is well known for retaining the best traditions of India’s rich traditional heritage.

Besides the training of intellect, the school puts great emphasis on sound health of the students and imparts Physical Training, Yoga, Hockey, Horse-Riding, Lawn Tennis, Judo, Swimming etc to the enrolled students. The school children regularly participate in National Integration Camps as well as Trekking camps. The school maintains two troops of Junior N.C.C. (Army wing) comprising of about 200 cadets.

On November 29, 2010 BBVP Pilani celebrated the 69th Annual Day Function. The Chief Guest for the function was Shri Babu Lal Nagar Hon’ble Food Minister, Government of Rajasthan. Prof N K Lohiya President Indian Society for the Study of Reproduction and Fertility – ISSRF, Centre for Advanced Studies Department of Zoology, University of Rajasthan Jaipur was the Guest of Honour. For Prof Lohiya it was nostalgia all over again as he is an alumnus of the well known deemed university at Pilani.

The celebrations included inauguration of the exhibition meticulously put up by the students of the school and following a ceremonial guard for the guest of honour, the students did a spectacular outdoor programme with yoga, lazium drill, aerobics, dandia dance, mass P.T. as well as the famous Pilani band display. It is indeed a matter of pride that on January 26, 2011 the BBVP NCC Band marched in the Rajpath for the Republic Day celebrations at Delhi for the 52nd consecutive year.

The evening indoor program in the auditorium of the school included apart from an English and Hindi play, a Kids Dance Zoobi Doobi, Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Navdurga Dance, Patriotic Song, Puppet Dance, Punjabi Dance and Rajasthani Dance.

Dr (Mrs) Kasturi Principal of the School presented the Annual Report of the School. Students who had excelled in various curricular and extra curricular activities received the prizes from the Chief Guest and Guest of Honour.

When the celebrations ended with the singing of the National Anthem, parents of the students who were present in the auditorium were indeed beaming with pride as their children were part of an institution which is one among the top ranking schools in India today.
