Wonderful Tonight, the ballad song written by the legendary guitarist Eric Clapton in 1977 remains the most favorite love song. The fact was revealed after a survey was conducted on five top love songs and every 1 out of 5 participants choose the Wonderful Tonight tune as their favorite love song. The nation’s number one voted song was Eric’s inspiration from her then girlfriend Pattie Boyd. The song was included in the album “Slowhand”, also nickname of Eric. The song was written by Eric when he was waiting for her love lady Boyd to get ready for the annual Buddy Holly party thrown by the singer Paul and his wife Linda McCartney on September 7, 1976.
Eric Clapton was put on the number four spot on a list of "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" published by the Rolling Stone magazine. The receiver of 17 Grammy Awards will kick start his international tour on February 11 from Abu Dhabi followed by a Valentine’s Day concert on February 14 in Singapore. Clapton will arrive at Bangkok on February 16, Hong Kong on February 18 and Seoul on February 20. He will open his US concerts on February 25 from Seattle, WA with other stops at Portland, San Jose and Las Vegas. Next he will be performing in Dublin on May 9 before he leaves for a UK tour that will open on May 10. Eric Clapton UK tour includes stops at Belfast, Glasgow, Cardiff and 10 concerts at Royal Albert Hall, London. London is the place where Eric was declared "Clapton is God." He will wrap up her UK tour on June 1, 2011.
Clapton who has passed through the tough time when he was became alcoholic and heroin addict is now an active participant in anti-drug complains and has also founded a rehab center, The Crossroads Centre in Antigua in 1998. Eric has confirmed to sell some of his guitars and other instruments from his valuable collection of the instruments to raise money for drug users and alcoholics who are trying hard to quit. More than 70 guitars and 70 amps from the possession of Eric will be sold via auction and profit earned from the auction will be used on the maintenance of the center. The third auction also includes his one-of-a-kind black Fender Stratocaster guitar that Eric used in his 2005 tour. The auction will be held on February 17, 2011 at Bonhams & Butterfields auction house in Los Angeles.
The CBE award receiver has also been confirmed for his three Jazz at Lincoln Center concerts that also features Wynton Marsalis. The collaboration titled “Wynton Marsalis and Eric Clapton Play the Blues” will perform their first concert on April 7 followed by two concerts on April 8 and 9.
