13th Annual Gourmet Gala to Benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital
Washington, D.C. – The 13th annual St. Jude Gourmet Gala: Mardi Gras for the Kids! will be held March 1, 2011. Guests will enjoy delicious culinary creations prepared by the D.C. area’s finest chefs to support St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, the only pediatric cancer research center where families never pay for treatment not covered by insurance.The largest St. Jude event in D.C., the Gourmet Gala has raised more than $2.5 million for St. Jude. Proceeds benefit various programs, including AIDS vaccine research, bone marrow transplants and gene therapy. The Gourmet Gala’s mission is to heighten awareness of, and raise critical funds for St. Jude, which is the only pediatric cancer research center that does not turn away any child due to a family’s inability to pay.
Hosted by Honorary Chair Chef Geoff Tracy, the gala will also feature a one-of-a-kind silent auction, as well as a live auction with unique items such as a trip to Memphis to tour St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Gala attendees that purchase a table have the opportunity to vote on their favorite dish of the event. Chef Victor Albisu from BLT Steak became the 2010 Taster’s Choice winner and was awarded a Breitling watch donated by Breitling USA and Liljenquist & Beckstead Jewelers
