Press release from: Philadelphia Chamber Music Society

Classical music and tea tasting partnership is a treat for the audience of the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society on Friday, February 4, 2011.

Philadelphia, PA, January 28, 2011 -- Erik Petersons, Development and Marketing Assistant for the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society (PCMS), announced that The House of Tea will join PCMS’s Social Series for pianist Cecile Licad’s recital at the American Philosophical Society’s Benjamin Franklin Hall on Friday, February 4th at 8pm.

The House of Tea will be offering a tasting of six teas before the concert and during the intermission of the classical piano concert. The House of Tea imports goods from 12 countries, including China, India, Kenya, Sri Lanka, South Africa and Taiwan and will be serving White, Green, Oolong, Black, Puer and Herbal teas. Jessica Litt is the proprietor of the shop on South Fourth Street, just off South Street, where she stocks 300 loose leaf teas which she is always ready to introduce to patrons. Her father, Nathaniel Litt opened the shop 19 years ago. For more information on The House of Tea and their collection of teas, stop in to the store at 720 South Fourth Street or visit their website, http://www.houseoftea.com

Called "a pianist's pianist" by The New Yorker, Cecile Licad began her piano studies at the age of three in her native Philippines and later trained with Rudolf Serkin and Mieczyslaw Horszowski at Curtis. Following a well-received recital debut in 2009, Licad returns to Benjamin Franklin Hall with another virtuosic program of works by Scriabin, Janacek, Chopin and Schumann.

The PCMS season consists of more than 60 chamber music concerts, instrumental and vocal recitals, jazz and special programs. A Resident Company of the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, PCMS performs in the Perelman Theater and other Philadelphia venues. PCMS collaborates regularly with prominent cultural institutions, and presents 50 education programs to enrich the lives of young people and others through exposure to great music-making. PCMS serves this mission through its unique policy of affordable ticket pricing – enabling audiences to hear the Emerson, Juilliard and Tokyo Quartets, recitalists Richard Goode and Midori, and many other leading musicians for just $23 per ticket or less.

The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society was created to serve and enrich the Philadelphia region and the field of music by presenting a rich and compelling variety of chamber music and recital programs performed by exceptional international and Philadelphia-based artists at affordable prices. We promote new music and music education, collaborate with regional cultural and educational institutions, and provide high quality customer service to our audiences. PCMS has presented more than 900 concerts by 375 ensembles and recitalists and has commissioned more than 35 new works. For more information visit http://www.pcmsconcerts.org
