Press release from: ActivityBreaks Ltd

Belfast East, Northern Ireland (January 14, 2011) – ActivityBreaks.com, one of the web’s leading independent providers of continental activity holidays, offer three ski packages which are ideal for families, couples and passionate skiers.

European ski breaks are certainly nothing new in terms of tourism or popularity. However, in recent years there has been a growing trend for skiers, especially beginners and intermediates, to seek out and ski at some of Italy’s “diamond in the rough” resorts. The idea of hitting the slopes in well-known and expensive resorts such as Tignes and Couramayeur can be a little daunting due to a lack of blue or red runs and overcrowded pistes.

Here are three ski resorts for the best skiing holidays:

Montecampoine in the Italian Alps is one of the closest ski resorts to Bergamo (Italy’s Ryanair hub) which is just an hour away. This ski resort offers fantastic views, impeccable runs and available slopes with no queues or lifts on most days. Therefore, this skiing holiday is great for beginners and intermediates, and also for short breaks with no long transfer times. This resort has 40km runs which are stretched over three mountains at a height of 2000mts. Montecampoine also offers comfortable ski chalets and hotels, and ActivityBreaks customers can even purchase a luxury ski and spa package from their website. The best accommodation can be found in the valley, with packages starting from just £95.

The Montecampoine ski resort offers flexible date packages, and ski hire or ski passes can be included in the price. A one week ski pass at the Montecampoine resort is 30% less than its more famous cousin Passo di Tonale. Food is also remarkably cheaper in the Montecampoine resort, as they only charge €6 for a slice of pizza, while many other resorts charge €10. They also offer 2 ski schools which have over 80 instructors on staff – making this the perfect location for both beginners and intermediates.

Presolana is often described as “ski paradise” for beginners or families with children. This laid back resort offers superb après ski which are available to their customers at an affordable price. This resort is also closely located to Bergamo airport so guests will have a short transfer time. As this resort is located in the Italian Alps, there are many on-piste hotels and they can be available for 25% less than a customer may expect, and ski passes and ski hire can also be included in the price. Guests can experience the slopes of nearby Monte Pora or can snowboard in the Pora Snow Park – making this the perfect active holiday for a weekend break.

Piancavallo has many of the perks associated with larger resorts in the Dolomites, such as great infrastructure and modern ski lifts. This resort is also closely located to Venice Treviso airport, allowing a short transfer time of only one hour and half. The Piancavallo resort is only a fraction of the price of other neighbouring Dolomite resorts, such as Madonna di Campiglio. The Piancavallo ski resort is ideal for beginners as they have 2 ski schools with a variety of English speaking instructors.

Allan Halsall of ActivityBreaks commented: “Many people are looking to find the perfect ski resort that has a combination of factors, such as affordable prices, quick transfer times, date flexibility, built-in ski pass and ski hire, excellent ski schools, budget flight availability and un-crowded slopes. Our Presolana, Montecampoine and Piancavallo ski resorts can fit most of this criterion and are hidden gems just waiting to be discovered by ActivityBreak customers in 2011.”
