Kräuter Mix GmbH has good reason to celebrate: 2019 is an important year for the producer of herbal raw materials, ranging from aniseed and coriander to chives and onions. The company will celebrate its 100th anniversary. On 1 April 1919, the family business was created when Christoph Mix Sr., the (great-)grandfather of today's owners, founded his own business to grow, process and sell medicinal plants in the German town of Abtswind. Much has happened at Kräuter Mix since: The small herbalist has become a globally active company with a team of 420 employees and a turnover of € 115 million in 2018 as a supplier to the food, phytopharmaceutical, tea and animal feed industries.

The anniversary marks a milestone in the company's history, a milestone to look back with pride on what Kräuter Mix has achieved and looks ahead with confidence. Kräuter Mix has charted the course for a successful future: Bernhard Mix, the son of Christoph Mix, the fourth generation of the family to run the business, joined the management board in 2018. The third member of the management is Silke Wurlitzer. At the same time, new production and storage facilities were put into operation at both the Abtswind and the neighbouring Wiesentheid locations to be able to serve industry and retail customers even better.

Kräuter Mix took the big company anniversary as an opportunity to revise its visual appearance and introduce a new logo, combined with a modern corporate design. In keeping with these changes, the company's motto is now Passion for Plants. From 13 to 16 February, its passion for plants takes Kräuter Mix to Biofach in Nuremberg (Germany), the world's leading trade fair for organic food with over 3,000 exhibitors and 50,000 trade visitors. Kicking-off the anniversary year, a stand party will be held on 14 February from 6 to 10 p.m. (Hall 9, Stand 9-281). Kräuter Mix is also planning a big celebration at home in Abtswind later in the year. Kräuter Mix has been producing organic quality herbs for 35 years, since 1992 with the certificate for controlled organic cultivation.

Since 1919 the fruits of nature have been our passion

Kräuter Mix from the Franconian town of Abtswind in Germany, the family business run by a third and fourth generation of owners, supplies the food and pet food industries, the pharmaceutical industry and trade with high-quality plant-based raw materials. We offer our customers an extensive product portfolio ranging from dried vegetables and mushrooms, culinary herbs, spices and superfoods through to phytopharmaceutical substances and medicinal, fruit and herbal teas, as mixtures or as individual ingredients. We supply you with our products in almost all forms of processing and refining, both conventional and certified organic.

Many of our products, gently processed in Abtswind, are found in well-known pharmaceuticals and foodstuffs around the globe. To this end, we procure our raw materials from the best cultivation and collection areas around the globe. Our integrated quality management system with numerous certifications creates safety for customers and also attaches particular importance to the ecological and social aspects of sustainability. Along with our extensive, increasingly sustainable product portfolio coupled with an understanding of environmental responsibility, we also offer a variety of options in the field of wage labor including stored product protection and germ reduction.

Our customers around the globe choose us for our 100 years of experience, our technical capacities, the expertise of our qualified employees and our collaboration with international, high-performance partner companies and last but not least for the provision of individual solutions. Among our customers are groups and companies such as Unilever, Nestlé, Frutarom Savory Solutions, Mondelez, Kotanyi, Wiberg, Van Hees, Twinings and Kneipp.

Our corporate philosophy "Passion for Plants" serves as a basis for our acting and is our secret of success when it comes to efficiency. Our core competency is the production of customer-specific products along with a high standard of safety. Our customers benefit from our many years of expertise in the field of various processing techniques applied with partly GMP-certified machines and plants: drying, cutting, grinding, grading, screening, cleaning, sorting, mixing, pelletizing, packaging, germ reducing according to the saturated steam principle and protective store product treatment.

Our infestation-protected warehousing of products from overlapping harvests guarantees a high degree of product availability and avoids, together with further power modules (e.g. just-in-time deliveries), a cost-driving quarantine and other downtime costs for our customers. Kräuter Mix is also well-established as outsourcing partner for the food, pet food and pharmaceutical items producing industry. Kräuter Mix undertakes all tasks in the context of a Supply Chain Management Concept, from the outsourcing of a sub-process through to complete process solutions.

Safety arising from competence is among our most important success factors to satisfy our business partners. Exceeding our customers’ requirements is our driving force.
