Texas Trial Lawyers at Sico, White, Hoelscher & Braugh Win Six Multimillion-Dollar Jury Verdicts in 2010
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – The Corpus Christi-based trial law firm Sico, White, Hoelscher & Braugh L.L.P. recorded a banner year in 2010 by winning six jury verdicts between $6 million and $124.5 million.The 7-lawyer firm is home to a talented group of trial-hungry young attorneys who are dedicated to representing clients in all types of wrongful death, significant injury, and products liability claims, in addition to complex commercial disputes.
The $124.5 million actual damages verdict was delivered on behalf of family members and victims of a 2005 van crash in Colorado. In December, a Texas jury unanimously found that El Paso-based Los Paisanos Autobuses Inc., the company’s owner and the van driver were responsible for the crash near Denver that killed two and injured five others. Attorneys Craig M. Sico and David Harris of Sico, White, Hoelscher & Braugh represented the estate and family of Teresa Lozano Acevedo in Acevedo, et al. v. Los Paisanos Autobuses Inc., et al., No. 2005-8265, in El Paso County.
The firm’s additional multimillion-dollar jury verdicts in 2010, all in actual damages, include:
• $42.7 million verdict in a vehicle wreck case in which a homecoming queen was paralyzed in Dimmit County, Texas. Rocha, et. al., v. Michelin North America, Inc., No. 09-06-11001-DCVAJA
• $21.4 million verdict in a commercial dispute between two oil and gas companies in McMullen County, Texas. Umma Resources, LLC, v. Key Energy Services, Inc., No. M-05-006-CV-A
• $18 million verdict in a faulty tire death case in Superior Court of Los Angeles. Ramon Moreno Sr., et. al. v. ATV, Inc., d/b/a American Tire Depot, No. JCCP-4160
• $9.2 million verdict in a commercial vehicle crash case in Nueces County, Texas. Rose Barnett and Jerry Barnett v. Highway Technologies Inc., et. al., No. 09-60431-4
• $6.2 million verdict in a workplace injury and product liability case in Nueces County, Texas. Maria Elizando, et. al. v. Masport Inc., et. al., No. 06-62341-1
