(Washington, DC) The controversial WikiLeaks website is facing pressure worldwide for publishing sensitive U.S. diplomatic cables. The White House claims national security has been put at risk and PayPal has shut off payments to the site.  Meanwhile many experts, including some of the world's chief online architects, say the very design of the Web makes it difficult for WikiLeaks' opponents to shut it down for more than a few hours.

"The Internet is an extremely open system with very low barriers to access and use," Vint Cerf, Google's vice president and the co-author of the TCP/IP system, the basic language of computer-to-computer communication over the Internet, told The Washington Post. "The ease of moving digital information around makes it very difficult to suppress once it is accessible."

Fred Gleeck, one the internet's most successful information marketers, says most of the information leaked is just embarrassing, not dangerous.  "It's been fascinating to watch how everyone has tried to put the genie back in the bottle.  It's PayPal account and access to funding was frozen, the primary Web address was deactivated, and their server kicked them off.  The result of all that?  WikiLeaks is stronger than ever."

The two internet gurus recently sat down for a long form television interview, available for free at www.fredgleeck.com.  Among the very interesting predictions from Cerf and Gleeck: universal use of video email, lifetime passes to see movies on line, and the ability of Google and other search engines to "read your mind".

"Vint Cerf is one of the smartest, but also warmest, most genuine guys I've ever met and his insights are amazing," said Gleeck. "You won't believe what he has to say about Al Gore's role in creating the internet, the concept of cloud consuming of content online, and whether he believes everything on the net will eventually be free."
