NBI Agents Seize Counterfeit Software Worth P9m In Makati – OSI News

AGENTS consfiscated P80 million worth of fake Rayban sunglasses and 65 computers loaded with counterfeit Microsoft and Autodesk software worth P9 million in separate raids in the Manila and Makati, The National Bureau of Investigation said Tuesday.

Agents seized the fake Rayban sunglasses from four establishments in Binondo, Manila, on Nov. 11, an NBI official said.

NBI agents also raided Asian Appraisal Co. Inc. and Asian Asset Insurance Brokerage Corp. in Salcedo Village, Makati, on Oct. 26 and confiscated P9 million worth of 65 computers loaded with unlicensed Microsoft software.

Nineteen of those had unlicensed Autodesk software, including Microsoft and Autocad Installer, the official said.

The NBI said the seized items were now in the custody of Security Storage in Paranaque City for safekeeping until the time of their disposal upon a court order.

The agency said the owners and officers of the Makati establishments raided were now facing charges for violation of copyright laws.
