Independence University adds CRTReview & Kettering Programs to its RT Curriculum

Press release from: Independence University

Salt Lake City, Utah, Nov 17, 2010 – In a move designed to help aspiring respiratory therapists prepare for their credentialing examinations, Independence University has announced its decision to integrate CRTReview & Kettering programs into its Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy degree.

Traditionally, respiratory therapy students used these preparatory programs on their own time. But for their benefit and convenience, Independence University has now incorporated these programs into the official coursework of the Respiratory Therapy program. These systems are meant to equip students for Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) and Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) licensure examinations administered by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).

While CRTReview is known to offer courses to equip students with the necessary knowledge required to pass the CRT exam, the Kettering program provides preparatory questions for both CRT and RRT exams as well as practice simulations for the “Clinical Simulation” part of the RRT exam. The practice simulations create a real test environment and are designed to develop candidates’ patient assessment skills, among other things.

As part of the practice exams, students are provided feedback on their performance as well as guidance on improvement areas. The CRTReview is part of the Intermediate Clinical Practicum course of the Respiratory Therapy program, while Kettering is part of the Advanced Clinical Practicum course.

The Associate of Science in Respiratory Therapy program at Independence University is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC). In fact, the program was recently granted a freestanding accreditation – the first accreditation of its kind to be awarded to an online respiratory therapy program.
