Press release from: New Digz Consignment

January 24, 2019 – Upper Marlboro – New Digz Consignment, a boutique style consignment shop, known for the mid-to-luxury fashions, partnered with local businesses to feed furloughed employees on Thursday, January 19th.

“When we opened our doors, nearly five year ago, we committed ourselves to excellence and service starting with our community. So making the business decision to feed furloughed employees was easy. I recently saw a young lady on the news speaking about how standing in a line to get food was demoralizing. We wanted to do something in an upscale way that did not feel demoralizing,” said Kelli Queen, co-owner of New Digz Consignment.

New Digz Consignment sprang into action, contacting other small local businesses to see if they’d be interested in participating. Too Blessed Too Be Stressed, TB & Co. Catering, Karamel Kisses, The Fabulous Life Events, Sweet Treats Couture and Poppin Chic Gourmet Popcorn were quick to answer the call donate food and services. The outpouring of support has been overwhelming. Everyone wanted to know how they could help with the event, including several customers who began donating money to help with the expenses.

New Digz has always been committed to giving back to the community and consistently builds a reputation for helping others. Historically, New Digz has donated clothing, supplies for school backpacks, awarded money to cancer patients, stroke victims and college scholarships.

"To be honest, I don’t think we completely understood the need until the 30 spaces filled so quickly. We added an additional 10 spaces that filled within minutes. We are just so grateful to be in a position to help those in our community. In these times, it’s more important now, than ever to be my brother’s keeper. As a matter of fact, it is in direct alignment with our commitment to be a valued force in our community”, said Sadiqa Brown, Co-Owner of New Digz Consignment.

New Digz Consignment is a consignment boutique specializing in new and preloved mid to high end women’s apparel, shoes, handbags and accessories at 50-70% below retail.
