Munich/Bottrop, 9 November 2010 – Well managed companies show high potential of innovation thanks to their qualified personnel. 68 particularly innovative German companies and their managers were nominated for the business award "Entrepreneur of the Year 2010" by Ernst & Young Germany. Among the nominees are Boris Nebe and Dr. Manuel Dohr, co-owners of Indoor Skydiving Germany Group (ISG Group). ISG Group developed and constructed Germany's sole and Europe's most modern vertical windtunnel for freefall simulation. In spring 2009, ISG Group inaugurated the reference facility "Indoor Skydiving Bottrop". Since, the freefall simulation facility in the heart of Germany offers entertainment seekers and professional skydivers the unforgettable experience and taste of flying – in a safe environment and weather independent. The co-owners further established a plant engineering and construction company that sells the in-house designed technology "Made in Germany" on an international level. To date customer projects in Northern and Eastern Europe have been attained.

„We feel honored. The nomination is a great recognitition of our efforts", comments Boris Nebe, Chief Operating Officer of ISG Group.

It is the 14th birthday of the German Ernst & Young business award "Entrepreneur of the Year". „Due to the demanding nomination criteria, the award received great prestige over the past years “, says Wolfgang Glauner, project head of the contest. „The candidates' performance is evaluated on the basis of key financials but is also based on personal interviews.“ Out of 68 nominees an independent jury of recognized business experts chooses the „Entrepreneurs of the Year 2010“. On 12 November the prize will be awarded to an entrepreneur in each of the following categories: industry, trade, services, IT/Media and start-up. Boris Nebe and Dr. Manuel Dohr are nominated in the category start-up.

Innovation as Key to Success

The nominees show significant growth rates and managed to create jobs even in difficult times: The 68 nominees hired 2.400 new employees in spite of the financial crisis. In 2009, they employed more than 55.000 people and generated a turnover of approximately eight billion euros. ISG Group invested, inter alia, 4.6 million Euros in Bottrop for the construction of the reference facility and created more than 20 new jobs.

"Our team invested much time and passion into the design of the vertical windtunnel technology and this paid off. The number of inquiries for our technology on a national and international level is impressive", explains Dr. Manuel Dohr growth and success of ISG Group.

A key factor of success of the current nominees is the ability to adapt to changing market conditions with innovative products and services. The entrepreneurs explain the successful implementation of innovations with their qualified and dedicated employees. The entrepreneurs manage to succeed even in niche markets on international level. Currently, their average turnover is generated by two thirds within Germany, but the importance of international markets grows: Fifty percent of the entrepreneurs expect to generate future growth predominantly on international markets.
