Tasked with extending the Singapore Downtown Line to alleviate heavy traffic congestion, construction company ALPINE decided to use online project collaboration platform, think project! to support long-distance collaboration between international project members across different time zones and languages, while delivering structured project communication and documentation.

ALPINE recently won two new contracts for Stage 2 of the Singapore metro Downtown Line, for the construction of three new metro stations and single-track metro tunnels. Construction services for the 40 kilometre subterranean Downtown Line will be provided in three stages, enabling the metro to reach a total length of 278 kilometres by 2020. ALPINE uses think project! to connect its international project partners and organise the entire communication and documentation processes on a single platform.

“The Singapore metro project is of long duration, making it difficult to manage successfully without clearly structured information processes. The time factor, combined with the complexity of the project and the physical distance between our project partners, meant that using an online collaboration platform made sense. We’ve already used think project! successfully in many ALPINE projects, so we chose it again. Our internal rules for design management and technical coordination are now mapped precisely within the platform. It’s fast implementation and the positive feedback received from our team underlines that it was the right decision,” said Meik Mueller, General Manager of ALPINE BeMo Tunnelling GmbH.

Jochen Maurer, Managing Director of think project! Middle East, says “The extension of Singapore’s metro system is an important milestone in the planned development of its infrastructure. We are very glad to assist such an impressive project. think project! in particular stands out due to its flexibility. We can easily follow our clients’ processes and map them within our platform – as we’ve done in this project. We have also been able to offer our experience and learnings from other metro infrastructure projects in Algeria and the Netherlands.”

Dubai-based think project! Middle East is a subsidiary of think project! International (www.thinkproject.com). Headquartered in Munich, Germany, think project! International is responsible for the global marketing and product development of think project!, an efficient information and project management solution for the construction and real estate industries.
