Press release from: Passions Productions

LOS ANGELES, Calif. (November 1, 2010) – On Friday, November 19, 2010 the European American Enterprise Council and Passions Productions will celebrate the release of the Beaujolais Nouveau 2010 with an evening of ‘Beaujolais Passions’ at the elegant Beverly Hills Country Club located on Motor Avenue.

French law prohibits Beaujolais Nouveau wine to be released before the stroke of midnight on the third Thursday of November. As a result, getting the wine to far-away lands like California is always a challenge and the excitement generated by the arrival of the Beaujolais Nouveau is comparable to the frenzy surrounding a major award show. This year, the French community will gather to celebrate the end of the harvest and the official release of this fruity wine on Friday, November 19.

In Los Angeles, French and Foreign Dignitaries and ‘Beaujolais Passions’ guests will have the unique opportunity to sample the Beaujolais Nouveau 2010 provided by Georges Duboeuf, sip other delicious wines from the Beaujolais region, pamper their taste buds on fine French cuisine and network with influencing decision-makers while experiencing the beauty of French culture firsthand. ‘Beaujolais Passions’ will feature live entertainment, a fantastic DJ, a fabulous silent auction, and great raffle prizes.

More about Beaujolais Nouveau…
Every year, traditionally the third Thursday in November after harvest, France, and now the rest of the world celebrate the release of the “Beaujolais Nouveau”.

The Beaujolais Nouveau is a light and fruity wine made from the Gamay grape in the Beaujolais region, which is located in Southern Burgundy, just north of Lyon. All the grapes in the Beaujolais region must be picked by hand. These are the only vineyards, along with Champagne, where hand harvesting is mandatory.

The process… Beaujolais Nouveau is produced by carbonic maceration followed by pasteurization (by passing the malolactic fermentation process in other wines) and therefore takes a mere 6 weeks to produce after harvest. The whole grape cluster is put in a tank while carbon dioxide from the fermentation breaks down the thin skin of the grape. This results in a fruity wine without much tannin.

Drinking Beaujolais… The Beaujolais Nouveau is a type of wine that does not last and is best consumed within a few weeks.

Young Beaujolais should be served chilled, at approximately 13°C (55°F), to encourage its fruity complexion. The fuller bodied Beaujolais, on the other hand, are best at about 17°C (60- 65°F). The colder temperatures allow this wine to be more refreshing and have more evident fruit flavors.
The Beaujolais nouveau is a perfect choice for people wanting to transition into red wines from white wines. 45, 000, 000 liters of Beaujolais are produced each year.

Three classifications of Beaujolais Wines…
• Beaujolais Superior wines are slightly riper, and contain more alcohol than the nouveau wines.
• Beaujolais Villages wines are made from a mixture of different villages. Beaujolais Villages makes up 25% of the region's production.
• Cru Beaujolais come from better vineyard sites, in and around the ten "crus" in the north part of the region. Wine from these individual crus can be more full-bodied, darker in color, and significantly longer-lived. These wines do not usually show the word "Beaujolais" on the label.

In the United States, it is common to drink Beaujolais Nouveau on Thanksgiving, since the holiday falls only a week after the year's production goes on sale.
