Montana Timing Brings State-of-the-Art Race Timing Systems
To the Rocky Mountain Region
Billings, MT, October 29, 2010 – Montana Timing www.montanatiming.com is a new race timing company, now based in Billings, Montana, that offers state-of-the-art race timing systems for competitions throughout the Rocky Mountain region. Competitive events include race running, triathlons, bike races, adventure races, and more.
“We literally have the equipment to support any size or type of race or timed competition,” notes Jennifer Drinkwalter, General Manager of Montana Timing.
Drinkwalter explains that Montana Timing uses a disposable timing chip, dubbed “Jaguar” which can be attached to a race bib, bike helmet, ski vest, bike number or ankle strap for triathlon style races. The chip requires no battery, is extremely light and durable, is waterproof, and has a built-in microprocessor that ensures maximum reads even during the most challenging conditions. The chips are so powerful that they can be read from as far as 25 feet away.
The system is also as close as you can get to being foolproof. “We never time a race without 100% redundant systems to ensure there will always be accurate results without fail,” explains Drinkwalter.
In addition to providing true timing results, Montana Timing provides additional services such as sending a text to family and friends after a participant crosses a checkpoint or finish area. The company will also provide real-time finish displays and participant kiosks at the finish of the race for participants to check their individual results.
“I’ve been involved in the running and multisport community for over 12 years as a participant, volunteer and race director. My positive experience with Jaguar is unparalleled. I’m excited that we now have this advanced technology right here in Montana for our various racing communities and events,” states Drinkwalter.

Montana Timing provides convenient timing by using low-cost disposable timing chips that go on the bib, bike plate, shoe, backpack, or almost any surface. Re-usable chip timing for triathlons and adventure races is also available. Chips are read by using high powered antennas placed over head and to the side of start, finish lines and check point areas. Antennas are mounted to arches, provided by Montana Timing, and can also be attached to trees, vehicles, and poles.
