New Guided Deployment Interface Makes it Easy for Non-Expert Users to Reduce Errors by 95% and Keep Deployments 100% in Control with XebiaLabs’ Deployit

BOSTON – October 26, 2010: XebiaLabs, the deployment automation company for Java applications, today announced the general availability of Deployit 1.3, its award winning deployment automation solution, along with a new IBM WebSphere MQ plugin and Maven add-on. Tests have shown approximately a 95 percent reduction in errors for beta customers, helping IT departments stay 100 percent in control of every deployment process. Customers like KLM have already seen savings of up to $1 million per year by optimizing their deployments alone.

The general availability of Deployit 1.3 marks the official end of the beta testing program, which received more than 800 downloads over just four months. In addition to the new task-driven user interface and significant usability enhancements, Deployit now also incorporates a new IBM WebSphere MQ plugin and Maven add-on, which are both in keeping with XebiaLabs’ Unified Deployment Model™.

XebiaLabs’ Unified Deployment Model™ is an integral data model able to describe any type of deployment. It is applicable to every deployment package and all middleware environments, ensuring that deployments across different types of middleware involving various deployment artifacts can be carried out in a consistent, uniform way.

The IBM WebSphere MQ plugin covers the deployment of MQ related artifacts, allowing administrators to create, modify and delete WebSphere MQ Queues and Topics for their test and production environments. By automating such deployments, this plugin not only helps MQ administrators reduce the risks and costs associated with manual deployment practices, but also helps achieve faster time-to-market for new or modified applications. By automating everything from discovery to the actual deployment, IT teams can create a more accurate, streamlined process that’s also easily repeatable. And with over 500 registrants in XebiaLabs’ webinar last week, Deployment Automation for WebSphere, there’s clearly a real demand to find ways to reduce and eliminate errors when deploying Java applications to WebSphere middleware environments.

The Deployit add-on for Maven, used by companies like Karavel, a large French travel agency, brings significant benefits in terms of reducing costly human mistakes by avoiding manual error-prone tasks, increasing the flexibility and security of deployments, and easing the integration of automation into companies’ test and build cycles. With this add-on, developers can simply create deployment packages from their Maven environment and deploy them automatically to the development environment. Through this Maven integration, Deployit also directly works with build automation software like Hudson, Bamboo and CruiseControl, so developers can set up their own continuous deployment environment, going from a clean build to a deployed, running package in just one click.

“We’re very pleased with the response the Deployit 1.3 beta program generated and look forward to the success of this new upgrade with the additions of the IBM WebSphere MQ plugin and Maven add-on,” said Coert Baart, CEO, XebiaLabs. “These improvements will help further reduce the risks and costs associated with manual deployment practices, while helping businesses achieve faster time-to-market for new or modified applications.”
