DVLP Clothing x BC Surf & Sport look to help Denver’s homeless this season

Denver, CO – October 21, 2010 – Denver, Colorado premium clothing brand DVLP is teaming up with action-sport retailer BC Surf & Sport to help the Denver homeless FIND A BETTER TOMORROW.

This November, DVLP and BC will partner with the Denver Rescue Mission in a donated clothing campaign, benefitting the homeless of Denver. The local companies are asking customers to drop off any gently-used or unneeded clothing at any of BC’s Boulder, Broomfield, or Denver locations (listed below). Donations will also be readily accepted at the DVLP Headquarters in downtown Denver. The Denver Rescue Mission has requested any donations of socks or underwear be new and unopened (available for purchase at BC). Also, any old/used jackets, hats, shirts, and pants will be warmly welcomed.

In exchange for donating articles of clothing, customers will receive a special, limited-edition shirt designed by DVLP Co-Founder Rustin Coburn, and 15% off the purchase of clothing or shoes from BC Surf & Sport* some limitations apply, see below

DVLP Co-Founder and designer, Rustin Coburn feels strongly about the issue at hand:

“If you live, work or spend any time in downtown Denver, you have driven through the cross streets of Lawrence, Park Ave, and Broadway, where the triangle of Eddie Maestas Park sits. Many Denverites will tell you that this is where homelessness in Denver is most apparent . . . and hopefully where it will end. Five years ago, Mayor Hickenlooper started the “Road Home” campaign, with the goal of providing every homeless person in Denver a home, suitable health care, and a job. With the current state of the economy, progress has been made but still needs our help to find a solution to homelessness.”

Get out there, and don’t be shy. There are many of those in the Denver area that are less fortunate around the holiday season and can use the warm clothing. Clothing collected at local BC locations and DVLP Headquarters will be dropped off at the Denver Rescue Mission on November 22, 2010. Between their four locations, the Denver Rescue Mission can house 1,000 people per night, and last year served over 770,000 meals to those in need. Once again, the most requested items are new socks, new undergarments, used pants, hats, shirts, and jackets.
