Database eases job search for Working Holiday travellers in Australia, New Zealand

As competition for jobs in Australia and New Zealand grows, working holiday service provider Work n Holiday has developed an innovative job database to connect Working Holiday Visa travellers with the seasonal and short-term work they are seeking.

The database, available only to Work n Holiday members, lists thousands of jobs throughout New Zealand and Australia each year. According to Work n Holiday manager Sam Habbouche, the regularly-updated database has quickly become the top source of job leads for Work n Holiday participants.

“We update the database three times a week, keeping a constant supply of brand-new, genuine job openings right at our members’ fingertips,” said Habbouche. “Since we only post relevant jobs from employers who need the short-term labour provided by Working Holidaymakers, this has become an extremely useful job-searching tool.”

The success of the job database is evident in its statistics: After a strong start in 2008, with a total of 5,700 jobs listed, the database helped 76 percent of Work n Holiday’s clients to find their first working holiday job in 2009. Since January 2010, nearly 9,000 jobs have been posted.

As the database grows, Work n Holiday continues to fine-tune the online tool’s services, offering a model CV, which can be completed with participants’ own information, a 29-page job assistance manual, and links to helpful websites.

Habbouche is adamant that the database will not replace the direct services which Work n Holiday offers on location in Australia and New Zealand.

“From a job searching workshop, to assistance taking out a tax file number, to access to our offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, and Auckland, our staff provides comprehensive support to participants.” Habbouche said. “The success of our database, combined with the services we provide in person, optimise our participants’ chances of finding great working holiday jobs in Australia and New Zealand.”
