Poetry Book By New Author Douglas Castle Captures Insight Into The Bipolar Mind

Press release from: Douglas Castle, Author

“Shattered Resistance” is an anthology of insightful, poignant, deeply imaginative and occasionally disturbing poetry. It offers the reader powerful, moving writing and is a rich and enriching reading experience for these times. It became available through Amazon under “Shattered Resistance Poetry Book” on September 10t h, and can be purchased in both a softcover format and on Kindle.

Independent reviewer Jay Goldberg says this about the work: “I have been reading this terrific collection of poems every day since I received the book and every day I find more gems. The poems in this collection run the gamut from interesting to thought-provoking to humorous to moving to insightful. I highly recommend this book to both poetry lovers and people who enjoy reading intelligent books that make you think, laugh and occasionally shed a tear for the author. Oh, one additional comment; in the poem “Things I Will Miss” the author writes that he will miss writing poetry that no one will read. Well, I think he got that one wrong. His poems will, and should, be read by many.”

Laurence Traiger, an independent reviewer from Germany, has this to say about the collection: “The voice of the poet is truly original and convincing. The reader is confronted with a complex personality expressing anger, love, hope, fear, nostalgia and a unique brand of humour.”

Bipolar illness affects about 5.7 million American adults, or about 2.6% of the U.S. population 18 and older, according to the National Institute of Mental Health. There is no single cause for bipolar disorder. Indeed, like all psychological disorders, bipolar disorder is a complex condition with multiple contributing factors. Because Bipolar disorder tends to run in families, researchers believe there is a genetic predisposition for the disorder.

The author has experienced episodes of Bipolar psychosis, which refers to an episode of severe mania or depression, along with psychotic symptoms and hallucinations. The symptoms tend to match the patient's mood. If the person is in a manic phase, they may believe they have special powers. This type of psychosis can lead to reckless or dangerous behavior, and the author has led a dangerous life.

The book has been written not only to entertain, but to provoke and challenge the reader to think in a brand new way. The book can be purchased on Amazon at https://www.amazon.com/Mr.-Douglas-E-Castle/e/B07HB7ZL6B/ref=dp_byline_cont_book_1.
