Congrex announced today its sponsorship of the Centenary Celebration of the Union of International Associations (UIA), which takes place in Brussels from 18 to 19 November. The two-day programme marks an important milestone in the lifespan of this “Senior Statesmen” of all associations that is best known for its publication of the “Yearbook of International Organizations“ and “The Encyclopedia of World Problems and Human Potential“.

Asked about Congrex’s support and participation in the Centenary Celebration, Congrex’s CEO Layth Bunni responded, “The UIA do some fundamentally important work and their research and documentation are key to understanding networks in our society. The work that we do in our industry has been shaped by the UIA’s contributions. Congrex want to add its support and ensure that the mission of the UIA continue - we are proud to be part of this occasion.” In turn, the Head of the UIA Congress Department Joel Fischer stated, “We are pleased that Congrex has joined us as a Bronze Sponsor for this event. Congrex plays an important role in the world of associations and international conferences and is well known for its quality services. We are grateful for their contribution to the UIA and their ongoing commitment to professionalism and innovative services."


The primary themes during the event will feature “100 Years of Civil Society Documentation“ and “The Climate/Conference Equation – Responding to ecological, social & economic challenges“. Looking ahead to the event, Congrex Belgium’s Managing Director, Colm Clarke said, “Congrex is looking forward to celebrating together with UIA at this year’s special event. We know how valuable the UIA’s work is and our Brussels team will be there to take part in this historic gathering.”

Founded one hundred years ago by Henri La Fontaine, Nobel Peace Prize laureate of 1913, and Paul Otlet, a founding father of Information Science, the UIA is a research institute and documentation centre, based in Brussels. It monitors and provides information on international organisations, and international associations. In its on-going efforts to facilitate an understanding of the international community of organisations, the UIA has become a cutting-edge technical centre with high standing in the academic, governmental, and business domains. The UIA has consultative status with ECOSOC and with UNESCO.
