The National Research Education Network (NREN) for the Swedish Universities selects Roaring Penguin Software

Ottawa, Ontario, Canada – Roaring Penguin Software Inc. the email filtering experts, announced that SUNET (the Swedish University Computer Network), has selected CanIt-Domain-PRO to combat spam on their networks. SUNET is a specialised Internet service provider dedicated to supporting the needs of the research and education communities within Sweden.

SUNET and other research networks in the Nordic countries use NORDUnet for joint communication with the rest of the world. As a part of NORDUnet, SUNET is also connected to Géant, the European research network.

CanIt-Domain-PRO allows a National Research Education Network like SUNET to delegate control of spam filtering to a University which can in turn delegate control of spam filtering across multiple domains (departments) within the University and ultimately to end users.2

About SUNET

SUNET started in the 1980s as a research project for Swedish computer scientists. SUNET paved the road for Internet in Sweden.

SUNET is governed by a board appointed by the Swedish research council. In addition to the board there is a technical reference group, as well as people working at the participating universities.
