Press release from: Red Gate Gallery

An annual independent open studios' event which will see studio artists open their doors to the public in November 2010.
Date: 27th – 28th November 2010
Time: 11.00 to 18.00 (Please, check opening times with independent studios as they might vary)
Locations: Borough-wide
‘Lambeth Wide Open’, Lambeth’s annual open artists’ studio fair led by independent artist studio groups from around the borough, will be opening their doors to welcome the public into their workspaces.
Following on from the success of last year's event, Lambeth Wide Open 2010 is again inviting the public directly into Lambeth's vibrant and cutting edge art scene.
With a rising number of artists moving into the area due to Lambeth's reputation of becoming a thriving hot bed of diverse and creative activity, means that this year's visitors will yet again have access to a rich as well as varied mass of talent.
Due to the fact that potential buyers can have personal contact with studio artists by bypassing galleries promotes negotiable sales as well as immediate insight into the artist's current practice, which not only acts as an educational tool, but also an ice-breaker between collectors and artist.
‘When you buy work directly from the artist, there is no gallery commission; work can be up to 70% cheaper. “A great opportunity to start collecting and investing in art.” (Minister of Culture 2009)

‘Lambeth Wide Open’ not only provides a fantastic opportunity to discover a huge range of contemporary art practice, but equally has the aim to further artist and studio networking throughout the year, endeavouring to create enduring and growing bonds within Lambeth's artistic community.
The participating studios hope ‘Lambeth Wide Open’ will inspire Lambeth residents as well as other collectors to discover more about the artists working within this amazing community.

In conjunction with the open studios ‘Lambeth Wide Open’ will be running a series of workshops for the public, covering the areas of screen-printing, ceramics, stained glass, drawing, painting, calligraphy and photographic. All the workshops will give participants new creative skills and the chance to build on that skill after the session has finished.
