Acquisitions help recycling company expand into food recycling and SME recycling market
Recycling company Paper Round announced today its takeover of two other London-based recycling companies. The purchases will enable Paper Round to expand significantly into the SME recycling market as well as making it London’s leading waste food recycling company. The first acquisition is Juniper, a specialist food recycling company that collects waste food from a wide range of organisations including restaurants, hotels, large office canteens and schools. It has most recently joined forces with Pret a Manger, to support the restaurant chain’s environmental performance. It now collects an impressive 60 tonnes recycling, waste food and general waste each week from over 100 Pret a Manger outlets nationwide. Paper Round will take on Juniper’s staff and trucks to help drive its growth in the expanding food recycling market.
The second acquisition is The Laundry, a kerb-side recycling service for SMEs in Central London. The company was set up by environmental charity BioRegional in 2003 but became a standalone company in 2009. The newly christened “BPR Laundry” will benefit from the support of the larger company while maintaining its bold branding, high standard of customer service and staff.
Bill Swan, MD of Paper Round said:
"We have been working to improve our reach into both the central London SME and food recycling markets for some time. These acquisitions will enable us to do this through the two established services. Both businesses have a loyal customer base and maintain high standard of customer service, which we will build on. This is an exciting opportunity for Paper Round to grow and to be able to offer ethical recycling services to even more London businesses."
• Founded by Friends of the Earth in 1988, Paper Round became a stand-alone company in 2000.
• Paper Round, part of BPR Group now helps over 4,500 Greater London organisations recycle in their offices. Their solutions are practical, cost effective and tailored to their needs. The complete recycling service they provide is backed up by reliable collections and underpinned by strong ethical principles.
