The weight loss blogs post tells of her frustration with her exercise program. Taking up running when the weight loss journey began in the beginning of June has paid great dividends and a total weight loss of over 25 pounds has successfully been realized. But there comes that point when anyone who has lost significant weight realizes a “sticking weight” and feels complete loss of motivation upon weighing in after a weeks worth of workouts only to see that hideous scale shouting back the same number as last week.
Ellen Wright, who heads up the weight loss solutions site states, “It’s not uncommon for us to hear these type of comments on the weight loss forum. ”Last name goes on to say that, “Every dieter who has seen success is let down upon reaching that first real breaking point where the weight loss slows down, and they have to know what to do.”
Expecting a plateau is all part of the mental attitude and preparations those actually losing weight need to plan for. While it is common to not find as much support and active feedback as in the first 25 pounds that everyone who hasn’t seen you immediately comments on, there is a normal metabolic slowing period as the body adjusts.
It is not the time to panic nor give up. Finding support systems outside of those closest to the dieter is recommended. Whether it is joining a program that is structured, or seeking the support of others on line in the same, or similar situation is a healthy alternative. Wright offers, “While you may be struggling there are numerous others with not as much success; giving support of others in their personal weight battle is the best way to work through the more strenuous times.”
