Press release from: Bizerba Gmbh & Co. KG

Bizerba presents weighing and labelling components at Macropack 2010 in Utrecht

Balingen/Utrecht, 20th September 2010 - The solution provider Bizerba will present its new system components for logistic and intralogistic processes from 5th until 8th October at Macropack 2010, the international packaging trade fair held in Utrecht. These system components easily fulfill the growing demands of this sector: the Kontrollwaage (Check weigher) CWE to check giveaway; the Durchlaufwaage (Continuous weigher) CWL-Eco to control the flow of goods and materials; and the Auszeichnungsautomat (Labelling machine) GLM-E for the manual or fully automatic labelling of goods (hall 9, stand B038).

The Check weigher CWE: a quality assurance instrument for industry and trade

No business in the filling industry can permanently function if there is damage to its image due to poor product quality or profit loss due to too high a percentage of giveaway. The Checkweigher CWE prevents the process which results in incorrectly-weighed packaging being put into circulation. It weighs and classifies up to 400 packages per minute according to weighing classifications defined by you or by law and automatically removes incorrectly-weighed packages from the production line. All important information regarding the management of this process is indicated on a colour display and can be summarised into statistics by head office. If there are any inadmissible deviations in the process, an employee on site can directly access the production process and adjust it.

Data protocols will automatically be saved in accordance with EU regulation 178/2002 on the traceability of goods. "This complete documentation makes the CWE an ideal quality assurance instrument for industry and trade. The consistent optimisation of this process reduces costly overfilling of packages, extra work and rejects. Investments in this system pay themselves off quickly", explains Dieter Conzelmann, Bizerba's Director Industry Solutions Market. Metal detectors and Ink Jet printers can be integrated just like other sorting system instruments – such as air nozzles, pushers, points, catchers and folding conveyer belts.

The Continuous weigher (Durchlaufwaage) CWL-Eco: Determining weights and volumes - data transfer via text message

The CWL-Eco not only enables the dynamic checking of weights but also allows you to control the flows of goods and materials. A flexible frame, a drive concept free from projecting edges and a multitude of different belt dimensions of up to 1,600 mm in length ensure its integration into any existing conveying system.

This results in a variety of different applications, explains Conzelmann. "The CWL-Eco can be flexibly integrated into existing parcel distribution and sorting systems as well as into feeding lines. The determination of weights with integrated volume indication is just as much a part of the system's application as the filling quantity and piece weight control or completeness checks and quality control". The weigher has appropriate programs at its disposal, such as counting, tolerance control, series fault recognition and summing up. The respective product recognition is performed by sensors with the help of a barcode reader, for example.

The CWL-Eco has 12 input and output areas, Profibus DT, TCP/IP and serial interfaces. Furthermore, it comes complete with Simple Scale Protocol DPV0 and DPV1, optional data transfer via text message and calibrated memory for weight, volume and any additional data. Further printing systems, such as the Bizerba GLM-E or protocol printer, can be easily connected.

Fully automatic or manual: the GLM-E makes price and goods labelling according to weight possible

As for price and goods labelling according to weight, Bizerba will present the GLM-E automatic labelling machine at Macropack. "You can", says Conzelmann, "flexibly adjust the system to your needs. Either you use it as a stand-alone device with a manual feed or you integrate it into existing production lines for fully automatic price labelling".

There are two versions of this system: GLM-E 40 with its internal operating terminal for a flow-rate of up to 50 packages per minute, or GLM-E 50 (70) with an external operating terminal for up to 70 packages per minute. The user can connect two labellers to the larger version and can chose to work with either blow-on or stamp applicators.

All GLM-E series labellers have a robust plastic casing and have space for label rolls up to a maximum of 300mm in diameter. These are provided by Bizerba Werk Labels and Consumables in Bochum. The Bizerba e-service saves both money and time when it comes to the upkeep of the equipment. If an error does occur, employees can carry out an error analysis on the internet and quickly receive advice on how to deal with the problem, thereby reducing expensive downtime .
