AZA Adds Three Accomplished Attorneys in Houston

HOUSTON – Ahmad, Zavitsanos & Anaipakos (AZA) is proudly announcing the addition of three impressive lawyers to its stable of commercial trial lawyers.

The new hires include a computer programmer with international arbitration experience, an energy sector litigator who has written and edited in that field, and a recent University of Chicago Law School graduate who has worked for law firms, clinics for the poor, and a federal judge.

Kinan Romman, a former software engineer and IT consultant, came to AZA from Fulbright & Jaworski. Mr. Romman represents both plaintiffs and defendants in a wide range of litigation matters, including business contract disputes, securities litigation, oil & gas litigation, high-stakes employment litigation, and technology-centered cases.

Mr. Romman has appeared on behalf of both claimants and respondents in several high-profile international cases, including some of the largest international arbitrations ever filed. Mr. Romman has published more than a dozen articles, including several in The International Lawyer.

He graduated in the top 5 percent of his University of Houston Law Center class, and was an editor at the Houston Law Review. He earned his undergraduate degree in management information systems from the University of Texas at Austin.

Ashley Frankson also came to AZA from Fulbright & Jaworski where she represented clients in a wide variety of disputes, including commercial litigation, oil & gas, and energy law. Her complex civil litigation experience includes business contract and tort disputes. She’s tried a $65 million bench trial to a favorable verdict. Her track record includes representing and counseling energy companies in breach of contract and fraudulent transfer litigation and a U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission investigation.

She is an honors graduate of the University of Texas School of Law where she was the Board of Advocates’ Mock Trial Director and editor of the Texas Journal of Oil, Gas, and Energy Law. She also was a contributing author to an international energy law overview.

Ms. Frankson earned her undergraduate degree in English Literature with honors from Princeton University.
Monica Uddin is a June 2010 graduate of the University of Chicago Law School, where she was a Levitan Scholar, with a technology background and experience in law firms and legal clinics.

Ms. Uddin clerked or interned at three large law firms, volunteered twice at the Mississippi Center for Justice, clerked at the Chicago Legal Assistance Foundation and interned for U.S. District Judge Orlando Garcia in San Antonio. In law school, Uddin was a board member of the Chicago Journal of International Law.

She has worked in IT support for a company that provides technological solutions for medical and rehabilitative problems. Her undergraduate degree from Stanford University is in a blend of computer science, linguistics and philosophy.
