Dallas Criminal Defense Attorney Barry Sorrels Earns Spot on Texas Super Lawyers List

Respected lawyer among publication’s list of Top 100 attorneys in Texas

DALLAS – For a second consecutive year, Dallas criminal defense attorney Barry Sorrels has earned a spot as one of the state’s Top 100 attorneys in the annual Texas Super Lawyers listing.

To earn the Top 100 honor, Mr. Sorrels received one of the highest point totals tallied by a blue-ribbon panel assigned to the complete the 2010 Texas Super Lawyers list. Mr. Sorrels also was named among the Top 100 attorneys in Dallas-Fort Worth.

“I’m glad that my peers saw fit to again nominate me for this honor,” Mr. Sorrels says. “It’s a vote of confidence for my practice and all the attorneys at Sorrels, Udashen & Anton. This means even more coming from attorneys I work with on a daily basis.”

Mr. Sorrels, who has tried more than 300 federal and state trials throughout Texas and other states, earned recognition for his work in white-collar matters and criminal defense cases. He has handled numerous high-profile cases involving prominent business executives and nationally known sports personalities during a legal career spanning more than 30 years.

To compile the annual Texas Super Lawyers list, researchers solicit nominations from the more than 70,000 attorneys across Texas to gauge opinions on the best in the legal profession. A select panel of attorneys assists editors from Texas Super Lawyers with the final selections. The final honorees represent less than five percent of all Texas attorneys. The 2010 Texas Super Lawyers list appears in the October edition of Texas Monthly magazine and Texas Super Lawyers magazine published by Thomson Reuters Legal Division.

Including Sorrels, every name partner at Sorrels, Udashen & Anton earned a place on this year’s Texas Super Lawyers listing based on their white-collar and criminal defense work. The firm’s other honorees include Bruce E. Anton, Gary A. Udashen and Robert N. Udashen.

This is just the latest in a series of honors for Mr. Sorrels, who also has been featured in D Magazine’s listing of the Best Lawyers in Dallas, as well as Lawdragon’s listing of the 500 Leading Lawyers in America.

Board Certified in Criminal Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Mr. Sorrels is a graduate of Columbia University and the Southern Methodist University School of Law. In January 2011, he will begin a one-year term as president of the Dallas Bar Association.
