Find Places to Shoot
Finding places to shoot is a tremendous challenge for photographers. “I was sick of ending up in new places and having to spend hours scouring the internet for decent places to shoot,” says founder Shawn M. Kent, “I wanted to have something in the palm of my hand where I could step off the plane grab my camera and go. I was stunned that it didn’t exist yet, so my wife and I decided to build it.”

Flexible Subscription Plans
PIXEO offers two tiers for users, a monthly subscription and an annual subscription. Casual photographers and occasional travellers have the freedom to subscribe only when they need the app and unsubscribe when they return home. At just $0.99/month this plan is not only affordable, but it also offers the most flexibility. More serious travelling photographers will prefer the annual plan discounted to only $9.99/year. Says founder Shawn M. Kent “We need to make money somehow to maintain the app. To do this, we could fill it with ads, sell our user’s data, or charge a subscription fee. We hate apps filled with pay to play and ads, and we aren’t smart enough to know how to sell people’s data. So, we went with the subscription model and tried to price it as low as possible.”

Community Collaboration
While the majority of the locations are added to the app by the PIXEO team, users can also contribute to the growing collection. Contributors submissions feature prominently in the app with full photo credits, and on PIXEO’s social platforms like Instagram. Says founder Shawn M. Kent, “There’s no nonsense here, if you add new locations to the app, that’s great, we’ll do everything we can to promote you and your work. But adding to the app isn’t mandatory. We add hundreds of new locations every week, but we’d be stupid not to let our users help us grow the platform. In exchange we always make sure to show them love on our socials and give back where we can.”

Categorization
Categorization also allows you to select only those locations that speak to your preferred style of shooting. Lighthouses, abandoned buildings, and scenic vistas are all subdivided in the app to make it easy to only view those spots most suited to your particular photographic interests.

Favourite Locations
See a location you like, but the time is not right to go shoot? Favourite the location and visit it later. Favouriting makes it effortless to plan a weekend photo excursion or time golden-hour just right. You can even browse and favourite spots for your next vacation destination.
