“Austria meets Hungary” - Have an evening like at the emperor’s time
General Manager Istvan Gyenesei, Head Chef Richard Nussel and their team invite you to the gourmet festival “Austria meets Hungary” at the “Relais & Châteaux Hertelendy Kastely”, where the royal and imperial ambient of the “K und K” monarchy will be revived for three days between 9 and 11 October 2010.Kutas-Kozmapuszta. Guests of the gourmet festival “Austria meets Hungary” can live large like emperors in the idyllic setting of “Relais & Châteaux Hertelendy Kastely” in Kutas-Kozmapuszta amongst the hills of Somogy.
Touching down with a private airplane, guests are picked up by a horse-drawn carriage from the mansion’s own airstrip right behind the magnificent building to be taken to the mansion itself.
Meet and Greet with Star Chefs
The exclusive reception with champagne also offers an opportunity for a Meet and Greet with the Chef of Hertelendy, Richard Nussel who has been responsible for the culinary delights in the gourmet restaurant “Albizzia” since the beginning of this year. Previously he used to cook in some of the best establishments of the world such as the “Schwarzwaldstube” in Baiersbronn decorated with 3 Michelin stars, or the best restaurant in Portugal, the “Vila Joya” (2 Michelin stars).
You can also meet four additional exceptional talents of the culinary scene who will be flown in to Hertelendy Kastely especially for the gourmet festival “Austria meets Hungary”. They are the shooting star Silvio Nickol who will lead the kitchen of Palais Coburg in Vienna from 11 October 2010; Dieter Koschina who currently entertains his guests at the “Vila Joya”; gourmet artist and television star Bernie Rieder; and Philipp Haiges, the newcomer from the Restaurant “Carl” in Graz.
Imperial adventures in the culinary world
The culinary highlight happens on the evening of the 10th of October. The five top chefs will prepare a “K u K” (royal and imperial) gala dinner with 10 courses that will surely be forever remembered by outstanding food aficionados like actor and entertainer Erwin Steinhauer, author Achim Schneyder and Peter Goach, the inventor of leather swimwear. Contemporary interpretations of dishes from the imperial times of Austria and Hungary will guarantee unsurpassed palatal pleasures. Guests will be pampered with culinary specialties like e.g. a composition of organic foie gras and passion fruit, cardamom, sweet woodruff and puffed black rice, a ravioli with truffles and champagne froth, loup de mer in a broth of herbs with a foam of mussels and pepper, or deer from Somogy roasted in herbs and served with a walnut crepe, celery puree, candied walnuts and red wine sauce.
Relais & Châteaux Hertelendy Kastély***** is a jewel box in the heart of the Somogy Hills. Surrounded by a landscaped park and 220 kilometers from Budapest, the castle was built by the wealthy Andor Hertelendy in the early 1920's. Currently in Swiss ownership, the homely atmosphere of the five-star hotel mansion is paired with refined elegance.
Guests can book 14 rooms in the castle and six additional apartments in the Hunter's Lodge. Architectural elements of the last century were retained during the renovation works, however, even the highest demands were respected when furnishing the rooms: all rooms come with LCD television sets and DVD players for added comfort.
The castle became known to the Hungarian public through the Hungarian film "SOS Love" shot here in 2006, and it even offers a conference room with state of the art technology for discrete meetings and discussions. Even the entire castle can be booked for meetings, private parties or weddings, so that a truly exclusive experience can be secured to all participants.
Hertelendy Kastély offers unparalleled luxury also to those who are in search of an active holiday. The surroundings of the castle is a renowned hunting ground, even Count Zsigmond Széchenyi was a regular guest of the Hertelendy family here. The castle park offers a wide variety of sports: riding, tennis, Olympic skeet and a golf putting green. All a reminder of the aristocratic traditions that characterize the former life of the castle. Another true speciality of the house is the original Finnish sauna with wood heating in the park: our Kelo sauna. Hertelendy Kastély is the first in Hungary to offer the exclusive products of Ligne St. Barth for body and facial treatments, a favorite of stars imported from the Caribbean.
Nature also enjoys luxury in Hertelendy Kastély: green energy sources are used to the max. The heating of the castle and hot water for the pools and bathrooms are provided by the 55 degree hot thermal well, so that the building produces no carbon-dioxide.
The castle is located in Kutas-Kozmapuszta, between Kaposvár and Nagykanizsa, 50 kilometers from Lake Balaton. The nearest international airports are Graz, Vienna, Budapest and Fly Balaton. Guests arriving by private airplane can use the private landing field directly on the permises. Furthermore there is a heliport with hangar.
