Jackson Walker Partners Published in ‘Energy and Environmental Project Finance Law and Taxation’

HOUSTON –Jackson Walker partners Paul Vrana and Craig Enochs were recently published in the book Energy and Environmental Project Finance Law and Taxation: New Investment Techniques.

Their article, “Credit Tools Used in Structured Energy Transactions,” was featured as chapter 19 of the book, which was published by Oxford University Press. The book is a collaboration of internationally recognized lawyers and economists within the fields of energy and environmental law.

Mr. Vrana is the co-chair of Jackson Walker’s energy practice group. He has worked in the energy industry since 1986 and has practiced energy law since 1992. Mr. Vrana has served as lead outside counsel to several energy trading and marketing divisions of international and domestic energy companies and investor owned utilities. Mr. Vrana has been extensively involved in helping clients mitigate their exposure to bankrupt trading counterparties, and he has experience with highly structured long-term energy transactions including natural gas prepay transactions financed via tax exempt municipal bonds, energy management agreements, first lien credit structures and sole-supplier natural gas and power transactions. Mr. Vrana received his B.S. from Oklahoma State University and his J.D. from the University of Oklahoma College of Law.

Mr. Enochs represents companies in deregulated energy transactions. These include asset-based structured transactions, such as tolling, fuel supply, off-take and power purchase agreements; transactions for the purchase and sale of energy-related commodities, such as natural gas, electric power, coal, and renewable energy credits; transmission arrangements and transportation for these commodities; and commodity-based financial derivative transactions. Mr. Enochs also assists retail gas and electric marketers with their supply and sales transactions. In addition, he assists clients in developing and negotiating credit arrangements to minimize transaction risk, including guaranties, credit support addenda, netting and setoff agreements, and master netting agreements. Mr. Enochs earned his B.A., cum laude, from the University of Houston and his J.D. from the University of California Hastings College of the Law.
