OTN is a combination of Optical Network Elements (ONE) connected with the optical fiber links that enable transportation, multiplexing, management, supervision, switching, and survivability of the optical channels. There are several types of OTN equipment that are deployed based on the standards: Regenerators, Optical Cross Connect (OXCs), optical transport network terminal equipment, and optical add/ drop multiplexer (OADMs). ODAMs are used in the formation of telecommunication networking using optical fibers for wavelength division multiplexing systems. OXCs are used for switching of high-speed signals in the optical fiber network system. However, regenerators are used for the scaling of all system networks by managing the signal traffic in the path.
