Hetzner Online uses setup fee revenues during the World Cup to create better housing and living conditions in South Africa

Germany/South Africa, May 2010. German web hosting company Hetzner Online creates, in collaboration with the nonprofit organization “Habitat for Humanity” in South Africa, a number of houses for needy people. Customers make a valuable contribution when ordering a dedicated server as the setup fee for all new servers ordered during the Football World Cup, from the 11th June until the 11th July, go directly to the project.

South Africa has over 5,6 million people living without adequate housing – most of them live in the townships created by the Apartheid system around the Johannesburg and Cape Town metropoles.

Soon the eyes of the whole world will be on South Africa for the Football World Cup. Hetzner Online would like to use this occasion to shed light on the poverty in South Africa. In cooperation with the international Christian non-profit organisation, Habitat for Humanity, Hetzner Online supports the initiative “Youth Build 2010” as more than 900 young men and women come together from the 7th to 11th June to build homes for needy people in several provinces.

Through this project many young people will get their first work experience, become socially engaged and furthermore gain prospects for further education.

Unemployed young people as well as youth from schools and universities are encouraged to give something back to the community, in particular to poor and vulnerable people. This will lay a lasting foundation for the empowerment of the South African nation.

Hetzner Online is providing at least two thirds of the finances for the building in the Western Cape province where 15 safe, lasting and habitable houses will be built for needy families with more than 40 children in total.
