Yaron Traub conducts the Gulbenkian Orchestra in Lisbon
Yaron Traub, who has been Music Director and Principal Conductor of the Orquesta de Valencia since autumn 2005, will be at the rostrum on November 29 and 30 in the Grande Auditório of the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. Most recently, he conducted his Orquesta de Valencia on November 16 and 17 in Madrid in a performance of Mahler's Fifth Symphony that was highly acclaimed by both the audience and the press. In Lisbon the soloist is the famous pianist Alfred Brendel, who will play Mozart's Piano Concerto K503 in C major. The programme begins with "Round Time" - a work for large-scale orchestra by the Portuguese-born (1969) composer Luís Tenoco - and will conclude with Modest Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition".
Yaron Traub has conducted the renowned Orquesta Gulbenkian several times in the past, though this encounter with the great pianist is a premiere, which came about at the instigation of Alfred Brendel.
