Düsseldorf, November 2006. Airbus Military have also opted to use Tech Illustrator. With immediate effect, this illustration software by the system provider Auto-trol Technology GmbH in Düsseldorf will be used to produce all diagrams and drawings for the technical documentation of the new military transporter A400M. At the same time, Airbus Military is also adopting all the Airbus in-house illustration guidelines, so that the company itself and its project partners will be working to uniform standards.

With a wingspan of approx. 42 m and a payload of 37 t, the new multi-functional transport airplane more than doubles the specifications of the previously used C-130 Hercules or C-160 Transall. The first of the 192 machines ordered up to now on a world-wide scale will start being delivered from 2009. The partners of the company founded specifically for the new generation of air lifters are Airbus, EADS-CASA Spain, TAI (Turkey) and FLABEL in Belgium (www.airbusmilitary.com).

Airbus Military is thus making use of the positive experience with Tech Illustrator at Airbus: the standards and customised adaptations of this software were originally developed for the A380, and are currently valid throughout the whole company. The trust placed by the parent company in the highly efficient system is demonstrated also by the fact that approx. 680,000 existing illustrations for the civil aviation fleet such as A300/A310, A320 and A330/A340 have been subsequently exported from another system and will be revised in future using Tech Illustrator.

Tech Illustrator with its DgEdit module is capable of processing large quantities of illustrations completely automatically. Due to the fact that it supports all current industrial and military standards, such as ATA iSPEC 2200, GREXCHANGE 2.9, S1000D or WEBCGM 2.0, and thanks to its extensive adaptation and automation possibilities, Tech Illustrator has already been used for many years in the aerospace, military and automotive industries.

"With the decision by Airbus Military in favour of Tech Illustrator, the international consortium is responding to the product's successful implementation at Airbus and can thus expand its own customer benefit as swiftly as possible – both for interactive illustration production and in the support of current standards", summarises Auto-trol Technology European Director Wolfgang Scholz. "This product and other current success, e.g. with GM in North America, underlines Tech Illustrator's leading position when it comes to international documentation and illustrations standards."
