PITTSBURGH, May 17, 2010 — ChemImage Corporation will be presenting and exhibiting at the 37th Annual Meeting and Exposition of the Controlled Release Society, an international gathering focused on the science and technologies behind the delivery of bioactive agents, July 10-14 at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Ore.

“We’re really looking forward to participating in this year’s meeting and sharing some relevant findings about Raman chemical imaging’s (RCI) ability to help improve product performance of controlled release drug delivery systems,” said Dr. Ryan Priore, Director of Applications and Contract Services at ChemImage.

These findings and more will be the focus of ChemImage’s educational seminars at the four-day conference, including:

• Releasing Technologies Workshop: Using RCI to Characterize Controlled Release Systems
Presented by: Oksana Olkhovyk, Senior Scientist
Sunday, July 11, 10-11 a.m. PT
Wide-field RCI can be used to improve product performance by gaining a better understanding of the formulation design and manufacturing process. This workshop will examine the benefits of RCI and its success in evaluating controlled release and adhesive systems, polymorph identification and blend uniformity.

• Poster Presentation: RCI Characterization of Layered Homogeneity in Controlled Release Beads
Presented by: Oksana Olkhovyk, Senior Scientist
Wednesday, July 14, 12:30-1:30 p.m. PT
In this study, RCI coupled with optical microscopy was applied to investigate coating integrity and thickness in commercial controlled release (CR) beads used in a common generic antidepressant drug. Rich spectral and spatial information provided by this method is especially valuable for beads containing two or more distinct layers. Data and findings will be discussed.
