Chronic wounds are rarely seen in individuals. In fact, chronic wound patients frequently suffer from “highly branded” diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Some of the most common types of wounds are Infectious wounds, Ischemic wounds, radiation poisoning wounds and surgical wounds. Ulcers is the most common type of chronic wounds, some of the most common types of ulcers are arterial ulcers, venous ulcers, diabetic ulcers and pressure ulcer. Tree of Chronic wound is growing steadily; it increases the incidence of chronic wound in individuals. People are suffering from different type of wounds and ulcers. This is sheen mostly in aging population.

In 2017, in the United States, chronic wounds affect around 6.5 million patients. It is claimed that more than USD 25 billion is spent annually on treatment of chronic wounds and patients affected by chronic wound are rapidly increasing. Whereas, in U.K. the cost to the National Health Service of caring for patients with chronic wounds were estimated at USD 3.4–4.6 billion per year.

Diabetic foot is a public health issue and is rare studies investigated its global epidemiology. In 2017, the global diabetic foot ulcer prevalence was 6.3%. It was higher in males and in fact higher in type 2 diabetic patients than in type 1 diabetics. North America had the highest prevalence 13.0%, and the prevalence in Asia, Europe, and Africa were 5.5%, 5.1% and 7.2%. According to the survey the patients with diabetic foot ulcer were older, longer diabetic duration and diabetic retinopathy, had a lower body mass index had more hypertension, and smoking history than patients without diabetic foot ulceration. According to the international journal of Endocrinology the incidence of diabetic ulcers is 5.62%. The risk of diabetic foot ulcer in patients with diabetes is 2.0%. The incidence of diabetic foot ulceration is expected to increase to 17 to 60% worldwide.

As the number of diabetic patients are increasing, this will lead to increase in the diabetic ulcers and chronic wounds, which in turn is expected to grow this, market in future.
