French American Chamber of Commerce – Houston Announces French Minister of State for Foreign Trade as Key Note Speaker.

Houston, Texas, April 13, 2010- The French American Chamber of Commerce (FACC) is pleased to announce its Keynote Speaker Series, featuring Ms. Anne-Marie Idrac, the current French Minister of State for Foreign Trade. Ms. Idrac will address members and guests at a luncheon at the Houstonian Hotel Wednesday, May 5th from 12:30-2:30 pm.

She says of her upcoming visit, “I spend two thirds of my time abroad to open new markets for the French Export Team. France like Texas is on the move, both are competitive and attractive. They share a common interest in the energy sector. I am going to Texas to pave the way for French businesses in this leading American State.”

Ms. Idrac was named Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the RATP, the Paris public transit authority in 2002. A particularly noteworthy development during her term of office was that the RATP acquired international scope, signing contracts in South Africa, Casablanca, Morocco, and Florence, Italy. On 12 July 2006, Ms. Idrac was named as Chairman of the SNCF. The State rail company’s results in 2007 should be seen as a historic achievement. Under Ms Idrac’s leadership, the SNCF successfully confronted the challenge of competition and international reach through its subsidiaries Géodis, Kéolis and Systra. High-speed train contracts were also signed in Argentina and Morocco.
