Global Brain and CNS cancer Market Overview:
Brain and CNS cancers are a group of rare and heterogeneous tumours. The increasing incidence in Western populations has been linked to improvements in diagnostic technology, although interpretation is hampered by changes in diagnosis and reporting. This study describes the most recent patterns and trends in the incidence of brain and nervous system cancers in adults worldwide. By regions, the highest rates were observed mainly in European countries, while the lowest rates were observed mainly in Asian countries.

Such differences may be partially related to the different genetic backgrounds of these populations. Recently it has been suggested that common genetic variants influence the risk of glioma, but this should be confirmed, although the prevalence of these variants in different populations of the world is unknown. Different trends have been observed worldwide, but they are sufficiently diffused in different countries from one continent to another to justify a prudent approach to interpretation. Trends in the incidence of brain cancer are complex to interpret given the wide range of histological subtypes and potential artefacts associated with changes in diagnostic approaches and recording practices.

Global Brain and CNS cancer Market Drivers and Restraints:
The limited number of known risk factors and the scarcity of information about them at the national level make interpretation of trends difficult. In contrast to the marked geographical differences, the temporal changes were similar in both sexes, with a gender model confirmed in previous studies. Decreasing incidence rates were observed only in Japan. The main factor is considered a general improvement in diagnosis after the introduction of CT and MRI in the 1980s. Little is known about the etiological factors of brain cancers.

In addition to genetic risk factors, it is known that exposure to ionizing radiation increases the risk, while allergic conditions seem to reduce the risk. Exposure to non-ionizing radiation, especially radiofrequency fields from mobile phones but also low-frequency fields, infections with some viruses, use of hormonal contraceptives, hormone replacement therapy, statins, vitamin D level, alcohol, height, BMI, and occupational exposures have been investigated, but no firm conclusions can be drawn at present. Given the specific anatomical location of brain tumours and the central nervous system and the high probability of developing a life-threatening disease, where many cancer registries record non-malignant brain tumours and unspecified parts of the CNS.

Scope of the Report:
In general, there is great variability in the scope of the diagnosis of new cases of brain and central nervous system cancer, with a difference of 5 times between the highest rates (mainly in Europe) and the lowest rates (mainly in Asia). Increasing rates of brain and central nervous system cancer have been observed in South America, including Ecuador, Brazil and Colombia; in Eastern Europe (the Czech Republic and Russia), southern Europe (Slovenia) and the 3 Baltic countries. The trends were similar between the sexes, although downward trends were observed for men and women in Japan and New Zealand. Rising trends were observed in both genders in Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Slovenia, the Russian Federation, Ecuador, Colombia, Brazil, Singapore, and Thailand; in the remaining countries, rates tended to be relatively stable over the last decade.

In the coming years, it is expected that the rate of Brain and CNS cancers will be controlled by adopting more technology in the drug discovery, production and distribution. Several new advances in the medical care will tend to improve the treatment quality and patient life expectancy in all the regions of the world.
