Plastic is among the most popular material used in the modern world for packaging, automotive and other industrial use. However, it is also a huge problem and reason for which plastic should be recycled to protect the environment. Plastic recycling is the process of recovering different types of plastic material in order to reprocess into other products, unlike the original form. According to British Plastic Federation – plastic arising in the U.K. are 3.7 million tonnes out of which 32.0% is recycled and 70.0% recovered. The U.K. has a plastic packaging recycling target of 57.0% by 2020. The BPF and Plastics Europe with the support of WRAP are implementing the Plastics Industry Recycling Action Plan (PIRAP) to help meet this target. As per the Conversio report commissioned by Plastics Europe – All the EU countries in 2016 exceeded the EU minimum targets of 22.5% recycling. 26 countries recycled more than 30.0%, 15 countries even surpassed 40.0%. In 2014, Czechia ranked on the top with a recycling rate of 51.2% followed by Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Ireland and Spain. This above factor proves that the environmental awareness among the people around the globe is increasing which will drive the demand for recycled plastic.

• Demand in packaging, automotive, and electrical & electronics sector
