Press release from: Connection Silicon Valley

September 20, 2018, San Francisco: Connection Silicon Valley, an organization that helps companies collaborate, innovate, and partner with Silicon Valley's world-renowned technology ecosystem, together with Alberta-based investment attraction and trade consulting firm, JPC Corp, have been appointed by the Government of Alberta to promote Alberta’s emerging tech ecosystem in Silicon Valley and drive foreign investment into the province’s economy.

Economic and Trade Minister, Deron Bilous commented:
“Establishing a trade director in San Francisco makes an important statement for the Alberta tech ecosystem by telling Silicon Valley and the world that we’re open for business. By having a team on-the-ground in both regions will provide an important link between Alberta and the Bay area that helps Alberta-based businesses have greater access to new market and investment opportunities that are unique to Silicon Valley as well as attract new businesses to our province.”

Albertan serial entrepreneur, co-founder of Swype, and two-time finalist at TechCrunch Disrupt Randy Marsden commented
“The San Francisco Bay Area is one of the most important places to be if you’re a technology company, but it's also one of the most competitive. This new role gives Alberta businesses an important resource on the ground that they can use to expand their presence in Silicon Valley while continuing to grow their company in Alberta with all of its inherent advantages.”

As part of the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Economic Development and Trade efforts to increase trade and attract new investment, Connection Silicon Valley and JPC Corp will work to provide advocacy, develop stronger connections between the two regions, facilitate startup introductions, and host trade missions between Alberta and Silicon Valley. They will focus on driving investment in Alberta by attracting new businesses and major corporations to establish a presence in the province. Connection Silicon Valley and JPC Corp were appointed to the role due to their industry expertise and their ability to provide bi-lateral support to businesses in Alberta and San Francisco.

Joanne Fedeyko, CEO of Connection Silicon Valley commented:
“This partnership provides a springboard for companies in Alberta to grow their business and access Silicon Valley’s $25 billion in investment capital. As proud-Albertans, the next time a billion dollar company is looking to expand into a new territory, we want Alberta to be at the top of the list.”

Christy May, Director of JPC Corp, continued:
“Alberta has a strong resume of exciting, innovative startups. Together, we aim to create closer ties that help Silicon Valley and Albertan businesses, connect, innovate and invest together.”
