Modular Laser Systems from TRUMPF: A single source for the perfect customer solution

Ditzingen, Germany; March 26, 2010 – The laser, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, is a key production tool used in many industries worldwide. TRUMPF will demonstrate the laser’s many opportunities for use in materials processing at the LASYS trade show, June 8 to 10 in Stuttgart, Germany. "Whether welding, cutting or marking, we offer our customers numerous innovative laser system solutions that support efficient production," says Jens Bleher, Managing Director of TRUMPF Laser- und Systemtechnik in Ditzingen, Germany.

Laser systems for small and large components
The laser systems product line that TRUMPF will exhibit at LASYS includes the TruLaser Station 5004. This laser workstation is ideal for repairs individual pieces in tool and die fabrication, manual 3D materials processing in medical technology and semi-automated production of small batch runs in electro-technology.
The laser systems in the TruLaser Cell Series 1000 are ideal for the efficient, continuous welding of tubes, profiles and coils. The laser machines in the TruLaser Cell Series 3000 enable users to flexibly weld and cut (in 2D and 3D) small and medium-sized components in the medical technology, precision technology and electronics industries.
The TruLaser Robot 5020, a standardized and modularly designed robot cell for 3D materials processing, is specially tailored to meet the requirements of sheet metal processing companies. The machine includes the laser with optic as well as the robot, the positioning mechanism and the safety enclosure. The TruLaser Robot also has a high level of processing flexibility and offers users the option of switching between cutting, welding, remote and deposition welding and brazing.
In addition, the marking workstations from the TruMark Station Series provide high quality laser markings, easily applied, on components made of varying materials.

All laser technologies available
"In addition to the right laser system, we also provide customers with a laser beam source customized for the application, which will allow them to manufacture their parts energy- and cost-efficiently," says Bleher. In order to offer the right laser for every application, TRUMPF has rod, fiber, disk and diode lasers, in addition to CO2 lasers. These can be used for applications in the multi-kilowatt range, in precision processing, in microprocessing and in laser marking. "For beam guidance, focusing optics, and automation elements come from a single source, the customer can be confident that all components are completely compatible with one another," Bleher says.

TRUMPF provides support along the way to a system solution
"Developing a laser system tailored for the customer is a complex undertaking and requires a great deal of technical knowledge and, above all, experience," he adds. Just as the laser’s range of applications is universal, the road to using it in integrated application solutions is highly individual. The workpiece to be processed, the specific application, material strength, precision, batch size, variant variety, reproducibility and material flow are criteria that have to be discussed in detail with the customer so configurations can be correctly customized. "From our decades of experience in materials processing with the laser, we have comprehensive application expertise from many different industries that allows us to work out the best solution for our customers," Bleher states.
