The Virtual Gastric Band 101

There’s been a lot in the media recently about the Hypnotic Gastric Band or also known as The Virtual Gastric Band. I get asked a lot about it so thought I’d give a Virtual Gastric Band 101 on what it is, but more importantly what it’s not.

​The Virtual Gastric Band - It is a non-surgical technique which uses the power of hypnosis to retrain the person to be satisfied with smaller portions of food. It successfully harnesses the power that every individual holds within themselves to make changes to their lives. Secondly, It’s not a magic wand – you can’t walk in and see me and want to leave 20kg lighter. The hypnosis can give you the sensation of feeling fuller for longer and give you the satisfaction of smaller portions of food. It can also help to combat cravings. Conscious self-denial of something can often increase the desire for that very thing, and eating a little less than we need - but eating anything we want - can actually lead to weight loss. Cutting out favourite foods completely is a bad idea, but cutting down on those foods is achievable and sustainable.
