AIDS Charity to Auction Art of Dawn Okoro

Federal funding for basic needs such as the organization's food pantry and nutrition services have virtually disappeared. Although their food pantry served 120 clients per month in the past, they are now able to support the nutritional needs of only 20 clients per month. These people living with HIV/AIDS, hep C, and cancer have incomes below poverty level. In addition, their holistic program now relies solely on private donations.
Dawn Okoro is an internationally collected artist. She recently completed a portrait commission for the late Dave Brown, former All-Pro defensive back for the Seattle Seahawks. This year, Okoro has held fundraisers to bring awareness to Erykah Badu's non-profit, B.L.I.N.D.
The Healing Arts Exhibition and Auction runs October 20 - November 3, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Closing reception and announcement of winners is Friday, November 3, 6-8 p.m. The auction takes place at the historic Wright House Wellness center, 4301-B N IH 35 in Austin, TX. The community is invited to attend both events and can also view and bid on artwork weekdays.
