Wachler delivered a presentation titled, The New Audits Landscape: MICs, MACs and RACs (Medicaid Integrity Contractors, Medicare Administrative Contractors and Recovery Audit Contractors), at the American Health Lawyers Association (AHLA) conference on Legal Issues Affecting Academic Medical Centers and Other Teaching Institutions Jan. 21-22 in Washington, DC.

The presentation included:
Discussion of the roles of the various contractors and the types of claims contractors will be focused on initially and in the future.

Attention to emerging issues and efforts to effectuate changes in Medicare policy.

A focus on current legal issues, proactive compliance measures and successful appeal strategies for in-house and outside counsel representing academic medical centers and teaching institutions.

Sharing practical experiences and organizational tips from a private practice healthcare attorney representing academic medical centers and teaching institutions across the country.

Wachler is the principal of Wachler & Associates, P.C. He graduated Cum Laude from the University of Michigan in 1974 and was the recipient of the William J. Branstom Award. He graduated Cum Laude from Wayne State University Law School in 1978.
