DALLAS – The Dallas law firm of Shackelford, Melton & McKinley, LLP, is pleased to announce the addition of corporate and securities attorney David A. Wood as Of Counsel in the firm’s Corporate Group.

Mr. Wood joins the firm with an extensive background representing corporate clients, investment firms and entrepreneurs in transactions including private placements, public offerings, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, federal and state securities law compliance and reporting, and general and contractual matters. Mr. Wood has served clients in the technology, energy, finance, private equity, food marketing/distribution, entertainment, health care and medical device industries.

“David possesses a blend of perspectives, having worked as outside counsel for entrepreneurial firms, as well as general counsel for venture-backed and public businesses,” says John Shackelford, a founding partner of Shackelford, Melton & McKinley. “His firsthand understanding of the issues impacting a client’s business provides David with a perspective that will be invaluable to our clients.”

Before joining the firm, Mr. Wood was a founding partner in a corporate boutique law firm that served public and private companies, as well as investment firms and entrepreneurs in a wide range of corporate and securities transactions. Prior to that, Mr. Wood served as General Counsel to Parago, Inc., Citadel Security Software Inc., and CT Holdings, Inc., where he handled all legal matters for the companies. He also is a former corporate and securities associate with Hughes & Luce, LLP.

Mr. Wood is a 1989 graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, where he graduated with honors (Order of the Coif), and served as an Associate Editor of the Texas Law Review.
