Dressage News Network Faces Current Issues

Dressage News Network's (DNN) latest episode is online and reporting on the increasing controversies that have been plaguing the sport. Although this episode provides in-depth coverage of the recent Palm Beach Exquis World Dressage Masters event, it also takes a look at the recent implementation of the FEICleanSport campaign voted on at the 2010 FEI General Assembly held in Amsterdam. In an interview during last month's United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) convention in Louisville, Kentucky, Dressage News Network correspondent Diana De Rosa spoke with George Williams, the newly appointed United States Dressage Federation (USDF) President. Mr. Williams is looking to the future development of the sport through educational and certification programs, as well as opportunities for young and developing riders. This theme seemed to be prevelant throughout the USEF convention's strategic planning sessions. However, the highlight of the annual meeting and gala awards ceremony was the naming of Dressage Champion Ravel as the 2009 Farnam® / Platform® • USEF Horse of the Year, followed by his rider, Steffen Peters, receiving the USEF’s Equestrian of the Year Award for the second year in a row. Jessica Ransehousen rounded out the ceremonies by being honored with the USEF Lifetime Achievement Award for decades of exemplary commitment to the sport.
