Miami-based designers of GD Swimwear head to NYFW for Street Fashion Week

Curious about the fresh new voices in fashion? Street Fashion Week (SFW) is the direct to consumer fashion show style-savvy audiences have been waiting for. SFW, the only New York Fashion Week show dedicated the spotlighting streetwear designers, returns to New York on September 15th as part of a seven city international tour.

This New York Fashion Week, SFW brings its trademark polished production to the heart of Manhattan’s Lower East side. Street Fashion Week is a luxury ‘urban’ or ‘street’ fashion extravaganza featuring the most promising emerging local designers.

Surprising the runway this season, a gem in the world of luxury streetwear is GD Swimwear. The brainchild of Damian Donaire and Gonzalo Zulueta, GD Swimwear is already making a name for themselves within beach culture in Miami with their recent presentation during Miami Swim Week. They’re poised to be the first Miami based brand and only swimwear brand in a streetstyle show! GD Swimwear- all pieces are made to prevent tan lines. GD Swimwear will be among this season’s hottest upcoming designers who are tapping into the culture’s urban energy.

Following a string of successful previous shows, SFW anticipates a packed venue of style veterans and industry insiders. Over 1,000 guests are expected to attend, including local media reps, stylists, and influencers. The event kicks off on September 15th, honoring a special guest with a “Pioneer Of Street Style Fashion” award at 8 pm.

STREET FASHION WEEK
Street Fashion Week is a bi-annual production held in accordance with the global fashion calendar that seeks to propel and reinvigorate the conversation about Streetwear designers. The innovative direction of "Street Style" is not restricted to any genre of fashion, but taken from how fashionistas express themselves as individuals. Heavily associated with music and culture, 'street' fashion is embodied and propelled by popular artists, particularly by rap and hip-hop artists such as A$AP Rocky, Kanye West, Pharrell, Sean 'P. Diddy' Combs and so many more. Street Fashion Week seeks to capture the essence of the culture and passion that defines 'street' fashion, while creating a platform for emerging streetwear designers to freely explore their craft.

GD SWIMWEAR
Gonzalo and Damian founded GD in October of 2016. While co-founder Damian was tanning in Cancun, he kept hearing girls carp about their horrible tan lines. He was then inspired by these girls to create unique bathing suits that can eliminate those awkward tan lines. When he brought the idea to co-founder Gonzalo, Gonzalo quickly envisioned it and brought the project to life.
Although Gonzalo and Damian had no experience in the fashion field nor did they study fashion. They investigated the latest trends for months. Additionally, industry professionals have aided us in bringing our vision to life.
